Clayton Anson

1920-2013

Clayton Anson, 92, of Council Hill went home on Wednesday, 1/23/2013.  He was born to Luther and Ethel Anson, on October 14, 1920 in Dardenell, AR.

Clayton was a Corporal in the US Army during World War II. He married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Pollard, October 3, 1948. They made their home in California where they raised their five children. When he retired in 1983 they moved to Council Hill. Clayton liked to fish, hunt, and garden. Most of all he enjoyed his fish fries and sharing his bounty from the garden with family and friends. He was a life-time member of the VFW, Checotah Post.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Allen, Bill, Glen, Jewell and Margaret; and numerous brother- and sister- in-laws.

Clayton is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary, children Dan, Karen, Kathy, David, Tim and their spouses, grandchildren Clay, Chris, Sarah, Travis, Tyler and their spouses, great grandchildren Trey, Jay and Holly. He is survived by one brother, David (Dagey), sister-in-laws, brother in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are Jack Anson, Sam Cox, Norman Cole, Butch Norman, Jimmy Anson, and Danny Pollard. Honorary pallbearers are

Grandchildren, Clay Anson, Chris Anson, Sara Brookes, Travis Anson, Tyler Anson, Trey Anson, Jay Anson and Holly Anson.

Services to be held at Checotah Funeral & Cremation Service Chapel 211 W. Okmulgee on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.
