Haskell W. Stephens

1941-2013

— Haskell William Stephens, age 71, went to be with the Lord, Friday January 18, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was born February 18, 1941, in Muskogee, OK, to Haskell Stephens and Bertha (Wright) Stephens.

Haskell was preceded in death by an infant son, Haskell Ray Stephens. His parents and sisters, Norma “Poodle” (Stephens) Sanders, her husband, Lewis Sanders of Gore, OK, sister, Frances Capps of Muskogee, OK and two brother-in-laws, Jerry Pratt, of Eugene, OR and Romi Holder of Tulsa.

Haskell is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolynn May (Morgan) Stephens , of Muskogee, his natural son William Jay Stephens and wife Tausha, of Wagoner, OK. one grandson Charles Jason Stephens and wife Leanne, of Tulsa. His extended family of 3 sons and their families, Tommy Moum and Knut Roppestad of Norway, Thomas Muehlethaler of Switzerland along with two very special ladies Annelies Wiersma of Holland and Janna Vanninen of Finland.

He also is survived by sisters, Marie (Stephens) Pratt of Eugene, OR, Pat (Stephens) Parks and husband Virgil, of Muskogee, Linda (Stephens) Holder of Tulsa, one brother, Billy Ray Stephens and wife, Amy, of Muskogee, and one bother in-law, Herman Capps of Muskogee.

Haskell was married to Carolynn April 6, 1959 in Stigler, OK. He lived, raised his family and worked in the Muskogee area all his life.. he loved to travel and did so extensively with his family across the U.S. and multiply trips to Europe. He loved to snow ski, especially with his grandson, play golf and wander the “farm” with Jearl. He was very active with his Muskogee graduating class of 1959. He was very involved in church; and was a member of Eastern Heights Baptist of Muskogee.

Haskell's last act of giving was to donate his body to OU Medical School; therefore, there will not be a funeral. Instead his brother and sisters will host a drop in “Remembrance Reception” this Sunday, January 27th, from 1-3pm at Eastern Heights Baptist Church.
