Jessie Olive Lauderdale

1918 - 2013

— Jessie Olive Lauderdale, 94, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away on January 18, 2013 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was born on November 22, 1918 to Willie Ragsdale and Dolly Darwin (Dooley) in Burneyville, Oklahoma.

Jessie was the Valedictorian of Fort Gibson High School where she graduated in 1936. She spent most of her life as a retail clerk in the grocery industry. She retired from Humpty Dumpty in 1980. Jessie, along with her husband John, was the original owner/operator of the Hilltop Truck Stop. She attended First Baptist Church of Muskogee, Oklahoma and was a member of the American Business Women’s Association where she served as the President. She was also a past president of the ESA.

Jessie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Abner Lauderdale; and two sisters, Wyleen Blevins, and Lucy Neely.

She is survived by a son, John W. Lauderdale of Muskogee, Oklahoma; a daughter, Janet Lauderdale Bickel Oberg of Muskogee and husband Allen; one sister, Myrt Rhyne of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandsons, John Nicholas Lauderdale of Muskogee, Andrew Lauderdale of Yokosuka, Japan, Alex Lauderdale of Muskogee, Ian Lauderdale of Muskogee, Paul Horlick of Richardson, Texas, Andy Horlick of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, Christopher Dale Bickel of Baltimore, Maryland; granddaughters, Brandii Graham of Colorado, Erica Ford of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Devin Flanagan of Dallas, Texas; 23 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Monday, January 21, 2013 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at First Baptist Church with Bill Crow officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: John Nicholas Lauderdale, Alex Lauderdale, Drew Lauderdale, Ian Lauderdale, Paul Horlick, Andy Horlick, Christopher Dale Bickel, Brian Ford, Blake Flanagan and Michael Graham. Honorary Pallbearers will be her nephews: Richard Ogg, Jack Lauderdale, Gary Rhyne, Ron Rhyne, Joe Blevins, Lucian Neeley, Jr., George J. Neeley, Gary Bentley, Billy Mac Bentley, Donald Albert Rhyne, Norman Hughes, and Ray Wise.
