Carl R. Jones

1917 – 2012

— Carl R. Jones, 94, of Muskogee, died Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Muskogee Regional Medical Center.

He was born November 1, 1917 to Samuel and Lettie Jones in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma where he was educated. He also attended Muskogee Central High School from where he graduated.

On July 3, 1943, Carl entered the military where he served in the Army Air Corps as a navigator during the D-Day invasion and on many missions over France and Germany. After his honorable discharge from the service, Carl returned to Muskogee.

He taught Mathematics at Bacone College before moving to Tulsa where he started a grocery store. Later, he and his brother-in-law began a partnership in an Auto Parts Store. Carl went on to open more auto parts stores, one in Colorado Springs, Colorado and the last in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he resided until his wife passed away. Then he returned to Muskogee.

Carl is survived by his daughters, Sherron Casse, Cathey Burnham, and Trvzette Placido; granddaughters, Ashley Casse, Alison (Burnham) Boothe; grandsons, Brandon Burnham, Ty Placido, Derrick Placido and Alex Placido and special family friends, Sammye and Rex Reeves.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Mr. Bill Crow officiating.

Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.
