Stephen Dean “Steve” Sevier

1959 - 2012

Stephen Dean “Steve” Sevier, 52 year old Muskogee resident passed away Monday, February 13, 2012. 

Steve was born, Sunday, May 31, 1959 in Muskogee, OK to Louie and Joyce (Hart) Sevier. He grew up in Mustang where he graduated from High School in 1977. After graduation from high school, Steve joined the Marines. After his discharged he moved to Checotah where he worked for Galaxy Steel. Steve was a steel worker taking him all over the United States. His hobbies were reading and fishing. Steve enjoyed being around his niece and nephews. He had a very giving heart. He loved celebrating everyone’s birthday, always remembering them with a card and gifts. Steve was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hitchita.

He was preceded in death by his niece, Paige Kindell and his grandparents, Buster and Gertie Sevier of Hitchita and Earl and Ada Hart of Checotah.    Steve is lovingly survived by his parents, Joyce and Louie Dean Sevier of Checotah; sisters, Deana Hine of Muskogee and Kim Miller and her husband Jerry of Hitchita ; Nephews, Matthew Phillips of Tulsa, Jacob Kindell of Hitchita, Jared Kindell of Checotah, Cameron Hine and his wife Caitlin and Adam Hine and his wife Amber all of Muskogee; Aunt, Anna Purdon of Oklahoma City; Uncle, Edward L. Hart of Tuscola, Texas; great-niece, Abigail Hine; great nephew, Lincoln Dean Hine and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 16, 2012 at First Free Will Baptist Church of Checotah with Reverend Larry Montgomery officiating. Committal prayers and interment will be held in the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery with Steve’s beloved nephews serving as casket bearers.  You may share online condolences with Steve’s family at www.garrettfamilyfuneralhome.
