A third quarter touchdown by Trent Wilkins gave Oklahoma a 17-16 Oil Bowl win, its first in the series since 2005.
Wilkins scored on a 65-yard run into the end zone that put Oklahoma up 17-10. Texas scored with 6:22 left in the fourth quarter on Dreu Ashley’s 2-yard TD run, but Ben Parks extra point failed, and Oklahoma held on for the close victory.
Muskogee’s Trae Cook completed 4-of-7 passes for 20 yards in the game. His teammate, Shjuan Richardson, had one carry for 10 yards.
Wagoner’s Durrell Parker had six tackles, second most on the Oklahoma squad. Tahlequah’s Brent Childs totaled five tackles while Hilldale’s Zack Wallace had four, including a sack and a fumble recovery. Muskogee’s Travon Brooks finished with four tackles of his own.
