Clyde Douglas Baker, 49, pleaded guilty Thursday to a misdemeanor charge of making false certificates or writings, according to a media release from Douglas A. Horn, acting U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The charges arose from an investigation by the U.S. Postal Service, Office of Inspector General.
The information alleges that on or about March 13, 2008, Baker, a U.S. postmaster, knowingly made and delivered a Cash and Stamp Stock Count and Summary, knowing the form contained an inaccurate account of stamp stock. The estimated loss to the Peggs Post Office is $4,681.81.
Following the completion of a presentence report, Baker will be sentenced. He remains free on bond, pending sentencing.
The statutory range of punishment is up to one year imprisonment and up to $100,000 in fines. A preliminary calculation of the sentencing guidelines projects a term of probation.
