Suspect charged in gas station holdup

A Muskogee man was charged Tuesday for allegedly holding up a gas station with a handgun.

Willie Deyon Washington, 20, was charged with robbery with a weapon for allegedly robbing the Pop-N-Go gas station at 609 S. Junction St. on Nov. 14.

Washington was arrested Friday at 2301 Denver Ave.

Washington is held at the Muskogee County/City Detention Center on $200,000 bond. Washington is due in court at 10 a.m. Dec. 4 for a sounding docket to set a date for his preliminary hearing.

Police said Washington entered the Pop-N-Go gas station at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 with a “Halloween-type clown mask” on his head and a handgun.

The attendant said Washington grabbed a cash register drawer full of money and ran out of the store. The drawer and some of the money were found less than two blocks away in the 2000 block of Fremont Avenue.
