Muskogee police are seeking an unidentified male who may have been involved in a drive-by shooting Wednesday.
“We received a 911 call at 10:51 a.m. that reported shots fired in the 700 block of north Terrace,” said Cpl. Pedro Zardeneta. “The caller described a white, two-door Monte Carlo.”
Police spotted a car fitting the description that pulled into a driveway at 2915 Arline St., after a brief chase.
The man police are seeking jumped from the passenger seat of the car and fled when the car pulled into the driveway.
Officers arrested the driver, but Zardeneta said there was no evidence linking him to the shooting, which resulted in no injuries.
“He was taken into custody for no driver’s license and an expired tag on the vehicle,” he said. “Officers did not find a weapon. A K9 unit was at the scene but was unable to locate the passenger because of the rain.”
Police investigators were at 701 N. Terrace Blvd., marking off a section of the driveway with yellow crime-scene tape.
Zardeneta said the investigators found shell casings but no bullet holes.
Cherokee Elementary School was briefly locked down during the incident. The school is a few blocks from the spot where police arrested the driver.
School district spokeswoman Melony Carey said the lockdown was prompted by a call from police. An automated telephone message was sent to parents letting them know about the lockdown.
