Erma (Martindale) Whittet, 100, DIED March 27,2010. She was born May 27, 1909 at Mansfield, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Whitt Martindale and Mary (Evans) Martindale; her husband Ernest Whittet; three sisters, Pearl Furry, Carrie Wylie, Lois Henderson; three brothers , Fred, George, and Fay Martindale.
She is survived by five cousins, Edna Paddock of Alaska; J.C. and Leo Evans of New Mexico; Ray Evans of Poteau; and Mildred Moore of Muskogee; Great nephew, Ron Suggs of California; Great great niece, Kristine Stevens of California, and very dear friends, Pauline Dix of Muskogee and Bob Mulling of Texas.
Erma graduated from Bokoshe High School, got her teaching degree at South Eastern College in Durant, OK. She taught at 101 School on Bokoshe Mountain in 1935. She lived in Bokoshe and taught in the Bokoshe School District. Erma retired from teaching at Old Ocean, Texas and lived in Muskogee. She was a member of Bokoshe First Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday March 30, 2010 at Old Bokoshe Cemetery under the direction of Mallory Martin Funeral Home, Stigler.
Pallbearers will be Jim Lyons, J.D. Phillips, Charles Henderson, Jo Henderson, Gary Carver, Larry Carver and Jim Smith with Reverend Jerry Turner officiating.
