Muskogee County commissioners issued a 30-day burn ban Friday effective immediately.
The ban includes all outdoor burning with two limited exceptions. Fireworks are included in the ban.
Natural gas and charcoal grilling will be allowed only if it is done on nonflammable surfaces at least 100 square feet in size.
Outdoor welding, the use of cutting torches and grinders may be done only if it is conducted over a nonflammable surface. Welding blankets or screens must be placed over nearby vegetation, and pressurized water or fire extinguishers must be available along with a fire watcher.
Burn ban violations can result in fines of up to $1,000 and a year in the county jail.
