BELLE PLAINE, Kan. (AP) – Authorities in Kansas have identified the Oklahoma residents killed in the weekend crash and explosion of a gasoline tanker truck south of Wichita.

The fatal wreck happened around 3:15 p.m. Saturday on the Kansas Turnpike near Belle Plaine.

The Turnpike Authority on Monday identified the victims as 57-year-old Kelly Stark, of Tulsa, and his passenger, 54-year-old Jennie Smith of Wagoner.

Investigators say the northbound semi struck a guardrail on bridge, then skidded into a ditch where it caught fire and exploded.
