Prosecutor: Murder trial should go to jury today

A trial for two defendants in the slaying of Roshun English is expected to wrap up today.

Dawaan Norwood, 22, and Schiavone Anderson, 18, are charged with first-degree felony murder in the Nov.  11, 2011, slaying.

Muskogee County Assistant District Attorney Dan Medlock said he would call his last witness this morning and expected to get the case to the jury today.

Prosecutors have alleged English, 35, was killed as Norwood, Anderson, Jacorey Billings and Romonne Johnson Jr. entered English’s house, attacked him and began taking items. English’s girlfriend, Dana Webb, testified Norwood shot and killed English after a struggle between Billings and English.

Johnson, 17, had been charged as an adult with the same murder charge. The charge was reduced to charge Johnson as a youthful offender with first-degree robbery in return for Johnson’s testimony against the others.

Billings, 21, will be tried separately at a later date.
