A Muskogee man pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter Monday morning in connection to the 2010 slaying of John Michael Lyman.
District Judge Tom Alford sentenced Andrew Nelson Hubbell, 36, to 15 years in prison, two years to the day Lyman was shot and killed.
The final five years of Hubbell’s sentence were suspended. Hubbell will receive credit for nearly two years already served, meaning he has eight years left to serve.
First-degree manslaughter falls under Oklahoma’s 85 percent statute, so Hubbell has about six years and six months left to spend in jail before being eligible for parole.
