With no new evidence appearing this week, a Muskogee County prosecutor said he will not charge a Muskogee man with rape.
Muskogee County District Attorney Larry Moore said it had been more than a week since Kevin Cornelius Carter, 32, was arrested and accused of raping and robbing a Tulsa woman in an area motel.
Carter was released Monday from the Muskogee County/City Detention Center on a judge’s orders.
The woman had accused Carter of luring her to the Travel Inn, 321 S. 32nd St., after she responded to an Internet ad.
Police considered Carter a suspect in two other incidents in which women from out of town responded to Internet ads to meet someone, and reported being robbed. Moore said they had no new information on those incidents, either.
“As far as we’re concerned, he won’t be charged with anything,” Moore said.
