Former mayoral candidate Robert Eugene Thomas was found dead in his home at 1510 Ash St., Monay, according to a police report made public Tuesday.
There was no evidence of foul play, said Cpl. Pedro Zardeneta, police community relations officer. Police are awaiting an autopsy report from the state medical examiner’s office, he said.
Thomas’ court-appointed attorney, Roger Hilfiger, said Thomas, 39, had been hospitalized in the fall of 2009. Records show he also was hospitalized in mid-2008.
Muskogee County District Attorney Larry Moore said Thomas was scheduled to plead guilty at 9 a.m. Wednesday and to be sentenced on six counts of obtaining services by fraud. The sentencing also was to include a sentence for violating his probation in an earlier case where he pleaded guilty to three bomb threats.
