Woman hurt when flung from car

A Porum woman told police Wednesday that she was injured when her boyfriend threw her out of a moving vehicle.

Annabelle Irene Horner, 50, was listed in fair condition Wednesday afternoon at Muskogee Regional Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Horner landed on her mid-back, buttocks and one arm during the incident, which occurred on Oklahoma 2 about two miles south of Porum.

Lee and the man she has been living with, Teddy Meeks, 57, evidently got into an argument before the incident, said Muskogee County Deputy Kent Barber.

Witnesses in a car behind the couple told law enforcement Meeks suddenly made a U-turn, the passenger door flew open and Horner went flying out onto the highway, Barber said.

“The witness said she bounced and then rolled,” Barber said. “Meeks said Horner hit him and wanted out of the vehicle and jumped out. She said he pushed her out.”

The witness told a lawman Horner had said if she pressed charges against him he would kill her, Barber said.

The witness took Horner to the Fiesta Mart near Warner and called Warner police, who called the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office, Barber said.

Horner was taken to MRMC by ambulance, Barber said.

He said she had noticeable scratches on her back, and her arm was in a sling when she was transported to the hospital.

A third party who talked with Meeks told Porum police Meeks said he would get a check the first of the month and would turn himself in at that time. Meeks said he didn’t want to go to jail before then because he would have no money to bond out, Barber said.

“Porum police are watching out for him (to arrest him),” Barber said.

The couple had been involved in a domestic disturbance in May, Barber said. Both parties were arrested, and the case has since been dismissed.
