Cherokee Nation Waste Management will hold a free dump day at the Cherokee Nation landfill near Stilwell on Jan. 4. On this day, the public will have the opportunity to discard any household or bulky waste completely free of charge.
“It’s the start of the new year, so this is the perfect opportunity for people to clean out their homes and get rid of anything they don’t need or want anymore,” said Doug Banes, manager of the Cherokee Nation landfill.
The event is open to the public and there are no residency requirements or limits on the quantity or size of trash being accepted. Exceptions include no hazardous waste or tires, and any Freon must be removed from an item before it is brought to the landfill.
The landfill will maintain regular business hours during free dump day from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Cherokee Nation Waste Management’s landfill is located seven miles south of Stilwell on U.S. 59. Information: Doug Bane, 384-5985.
