COWETA — Area high school juniors and seniors attended the first meeting for Youth Leadership Wagoner County on Dec. 8.
The six-month program introduces students to Wagoner County history, community development, county and state government, teamwork, and leadership, according to a media release.
High students from Coweta, Porter and Wagoner make up the 30-member class. Members include: Zach Cade, Tyler Dougherty, Amber Foster, Colby Greuel, Rebecca Hagan, Rachel Johnson, Josh McGrath, Tasha Moore, Stacia Mouse, Jalisa Ross, Kayla Smith, Jimmy Stafford, Lauren Stewart, Alex Tecle, Elizabeth Usrey, John Wyatt, Nathan Plunk, Ben Coffey, Shane Foshee, Sara Kruczek, Chae Mahoney, Tyree Parker, Jordan Robinson, Emily Sewell, Eli Turley, Nia Yarborough, Marcus Bruner, Devin Johnson, Morgan Smith and Wilson Sprinkles.
Students learned more about the program, participated in activities to meet and bond with class members and met Muskogee Mayor John Tyler Hammons. Hammons told the class his journey to become the one of youngest mayors in American history. The students had the chance to ask him questions about his journey, job and life.
