Muskogee Police and Muskogee County Emergency Medical Service personnel free Claude Sheppard from his car after a crash in front of the Muskogee Public Library, at Ninth Street and Okmulgee Avenue around 11:32 a.m. Thursday.
Muskogee Police Officer Perry Galvin said a 1999 Ford Escort driven by Lidia Hernandez-Gomez, 32, of Muskogee was going south on Ninth Street, stopped at the stop sign on Okmulgee, then continued across when it was hit by a 1995 Chevrolet Corsica driven east on Okmulgee by Sheppard, 30, of Muskogee. Sheppard was transported to Muskogee Regional Medical Center where he was being evaluated Thursday evening.
Hernandez-Gomez was cited for failure to yield.
