At first, Sue Ann Bishop sent her husband to the Great American Cookie Co. for some sweet 16 birthday cookies for their daughter.
What they eventually got proved even sweeter.
Bishop had the weekly winning $500 ticket from the Greater Muskogee Area Chamber of Commerce’s Magic Holiday Giveaway. The Fort Gibson resident picked up her check Tuesday morning at the cookie store, located in Arrowhead Mall.
“My husband was actually the one who got the ticket,” Bishop said. “It was Nov. 20 and he was getting two sheet cookies for our daughter’s 16th birthday.”
She said she saw the winning ticket number, 0639923, in the Muskogee Phoenix on Thanksgiving morning. Bishop said she plans to use her winnings to buy Christmas presents.
People with the cookie company were just as pleased.
“We’ve never had a winner before, so it was good to see it happen here,” said Laurie Gotcher, manager.
The winning $500 ticket number is announced each Wednesday afternoon through Dec. 10, with the winning number printed Thursday in the Phoenix.
A drawing for $10,000 will be held 6:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at Arrowhead Mall. Winners need not be present to win.
