TAHLEQUAH — Music, fellowship and refreshments are planned for the holiday tree lighting program on the Cherokee Nation Courthouse Square on Friday, according to a media release.
The program kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with snacks and soft drinks such as hot cider and hot cocoa. Holiday songs will be performed by the award-winning Cherokee National Youth Choir.
Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chad Smith will present a welcome message to visitors, with the official lighting taking place at 6:15 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
