Matthew Richie, an Oklahoma Baptist University senior from Fort Gibson, will be honored at the University’s 72nd annual “Hanging of the Green” Christmas celebration at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5, in OBU’s Raley Chapel. Richie is an electronic media major. He is the son of Terry and Sherri Richie.
The 2009 Hanging of the Green will pay tribute to the University’s Centennial anniversary with a reflection on the music and programs that helped shaped the holiday tradition on Bison Hill.
After the singing of carols, representatives from all dormitories light candles of goodwill from the candle at Raley Chapel and carry the light to their own houses.
Traditionally, 20 outstanding seniors are nominated and selected by the faculty as honorees for the evening. These students are seen to embody the OBU ideals and represent a wide variety of majors, disciplines and hometowns.
