Two people were hospitalized after a crash on the Indian Nation Turnpike at mile marker 95 in McIntosh County that was reported Wednesday.
A 2005 Dodge van driven by Troy Beaver, 37, of Houston, and a 2008 Ford pickup driven by Allen Prescott, 40, of Oklahoma City were stopped in the northbound lane at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said they were stopped because another vehicle was on fire on the shoulder from a separate incident.
A 2004 Hyundai driven by Dean Stewart, 41, of Broken Bow struck the rear of the Dodge van, causing it to strike the back of the Ford pickup, the OHP said.
Stewart was treated at Henryetta Medical Center and released. Prescott refused treatment at the scene, the OHP said.
A passenger in the Beaver vehicle, Rogelio Ablaca, 63, of the Philippines was admitted to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was listed Wednesday in good condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Another passenger in the Beaver vehicle, Elijah Beaver, 3, was admitted to St. Francis Hospital on Tuesday, but a spokeswoman said Wednesday he had been released.
Troy Beaver and Thairyn Beaver, 36, were treated at St. Francis and released, as were passengers Katrina Beaver, 11, and Thaisa Ablaca, 61, of the Philippines.
Everyone involved was wearing seat belts, and airbags did deploy in each vehicle, the OHP report said.
