Two Keys High School students are among 50 Oklahoma students on the 2010 State Superintendent’s Advisory Council.
The students are Keys senior Amber Hunter and junior Chelsey Carpenter.
Now in its second year, the council was created by State Superintendent for Public Instruction Sandy Garrett to provide feedback on critical issues impacting Oklahoma students and schools.
Those selected competed with hundreds of applicants in grades nine through 12, based on community and civic service. Applicants also represent diversity in geography and school size.
The State Superintendent's Student Advisory Council will meet three to four times during this school year, with the first meeting to be held in December. The itineraries of the meetings will be structured to generate substantive ideas to share at the state Capitol and with local and state education leaders.
