FORT GIBSON — After 33 years of selling innovative roofs, BRB Roofing and Manufacturing has a new way of surrounding the property.
The company, 101 S. Two-mile Road, is manufacturing a low-maintenance, pre-painted steel fence through Thunder Canyon Fence Products.
“We’re just now going to market with it,” Thunder Canyon General Manager Bryan Sherwood said. “We have a patent pending on it and are working on a Web site.”
Sherwood said the rail fence is more durable than wood fences and more stable and attractive than vinyl fences.
“And it is something that is totally recyclable, not like vinyl,” he said.
The fences are made of 8-foot sections of roll-formed pre-painted steel, though sections can be cut into smaller pieces Sherwood said.
The fence also assembles in a “snap,” he said. The rails have diamond-shaped sides that fit and snap into diamond-shaped openings in the fence posts. Fence posts can be made for rails going out at 180-degrees, 90-degrees and 45-degrees, he said.
“We can make anything from a two-rail fence to a five-rail fence,” Sherwood said. “The nice thing about it is you don’t have to repaint it, unlike a pipe fence or wood that you have to repaint every two or three years.”
The posts and rails also come in 12 standard colors, three premium colors and custom colors, he said. The paint has a 25-year warranty.
Leonard and Jenny McCullough installed between 200 and 300 feet of fence along the front of their 20-acre property near Sapulpa.
“The look is fantastic,” Leonard McCullough said. “Before we found out about the product, we decided that vinyl looks cheap. “I’ve been looking for a good fence for a couple of years. Once I heard about this fence, I was sold.”
Jenny McCullough said the taupe color added a nice touch to the front of their home.
Sherwood said people can come to the BRB site or call him to order the fence.
“Our goal is to go through fence distributors in northeast Oklahoma,” he said.
The company also could add more employees as more orders come in, he said.
