Boynton residents experiencing on and off water problems are going through more problems.
The water is turned off at night hoping it will build up enough in the water tower to service the school and townspeople through the day. The water is on from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., the Mayor Marie Wilson said Monday.
Debbie Wedding, who has her 89-year-old mother living in her three-member household, said Muskogee County Emergency Management brought bottled water to the town hall last week.
But there was no one to distribute it, and because she leaves for work at 6 a.m., that precluded the family from receiving any of the bottled water.
Wedding said town officials said there was no money for the town to purchase bottled water.
“For lack of a better word, we’re screwed all the way around,” Wedding said. “I don’t know of a better way to put it.”
The water pressure problem is not connected to a previous problem that left the town high and dry for more than a week, Wilson said. The earlier problem, a large leak beneath Cane Creek on Oklahoma 72 was found Oct. 29.
Temporary repairs were completed last week, Wilson said. She also said she does not believe this week’s problem is related to last week’s.
Wilson said the town has sent a pump to be fixed. She said when it gets repaired, the town hopes it will solve the mystery as to the low water pressure. The pump had been out for awhile, she said.
State officials hired Rocky and Roy Webb to help with cleanup and Cook Construction to install 700 feet of new line in the creek, District 3 County Commission Dexter Payne said earlier. He and his crew were instrumental in locating the leak.
State Sen. Earl Garrison, D-Muskogee, and Rep. Jerry Shoemake, D-Morris, made arrangements for emergency funding to repair the leak, Wilson said.
