The brass band probably symbolizes the Salvation Army just as much as the little red kettles used for collecting money during the holidays.
The public will have an opportunity today to hear “some of the better” Salvation Army brass band musicians in a free concert at 3 p.m. today at Arrowhead Mall, said Capt. George Hackbarth.
The concert will end a year of practice by the select group.
“You will be entertained, and you will be impressed by the quality of the musicianship and the songs they will pick,” Hackbarth said. “They are serious about their music.”
