The Fort Gibson Board of Trustees voted Monday night to repeal an ordinance requiring police to call only Fort Gibson wrecker services to have impounded cars towed.
Town Administrator Kathy Carson said the town will follow state statutes, and Interim Chief of Police Lannie Edwards will be establishing a policy.
“It is the board’s intent to call the nearest wrecker service,” Carson said in an e-mail response to a question about the board’s action.
Several Muskogee wrecker services had obtained a temporary restraining order against the town alleging the Fort Gibson Board of Trustees improperly adopted an ordinance giving all the town’s wrecker business to two Fort Gibson wrecker companies.
