A Stilwell man was arrested late Saturday night after allegedly attacking a Missouri race car driver in the pit of Outlaw Motor Speedway.
Charles Sims, 51, allegedly attacked Burl Woods, 32, of Republic, Mo., with a flashlight. Muskogee County Chief Deputy Terry Freeman said Woods was treated at Muskogee Regional Medical Center for a head injury and released.
Before hitting Woods with the flashlight, Sims asked Woods why he ran his son off the track, according to the report.
Sims was arrested on suspicion of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He posted a $5,000 bond and was released at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, Freeman said.
He is supposed to return to Muskogee Thursday, at which time he will be told if formal charges will be filed.
