A swing set and climbing equipment will become new fixtures at the Cherokee Nation Immersion Charter School after parents won a $5,000 grant to build a new playground, a media release states.
Parents received the check last week as winners of the 2012-13 Lowe’s Toolbox for Education grant.
Parents plan to buy a $2,400 swing set, $1,400 climber, $600 in landscaping and mulch, and $600 for installation materials. Other parents who helped write the grant include Howard and Alicia Paden, Wyman and Holly Kirk, Georgia Dick, Larry Webber, Ryan and Dawni Squirrel-Mackey and Will Chavez. Volunteers are needed to install the equipment in April.
To volunteer: Candessa Tehee, (918) 772-4170.
