Jerry Lee McNatt testified during his first-degree rape trial that an 18-year-old woman made repeated propositions to have oral sex.
McNatt, 63, is alleged to have had sex with the woman, described as “mildly retarded” in a court document. He also is charged with rape by instrumentation, two counts of forcible sodomy and felonious discharge of a firearm.
McNatt testified Friday the woman came to his home in Wainwright for several weekends from January through March 2009.
He said the woman first wanted to see him and his wife Jan. 29, 2009, because there was a conflict in her family.
McNatt said he and the woman went into the garage, where he noticed she was upset.
“She came over and hugged me. It was a long hug,” McNatt said. “Then she kissed me and stuck her tongue in my mouth. Then she put her hand in my sweat pants ... I pulled away from her and said ‘You shouldn’t do that’ and she said ‘I’ve done it before.’”
McNatt said he pulled away, then she pulled her pants down.
He said they went to the garage the next day and “the same thing happened.”
McNatt’s attorney, Lowell Howe, asked him, “Did you put your mouth on her private parts?”
“No,” McNatt said.
Howe asked, “Did you put your finger on her private parts?”
McNatt said “No.”
“Did anything lead you to believe the woman did not know what she was doing?” Howe asked.
“No,” McNatt answered. “She knew exactly what she was doing. When she backed up, I pulled away from her and she said if I didn’t do what she told me to do she’d get me into trouble.”
McNatt gave an account of what happened nearly every day after Jan. 29.
He testified about a similar event when she visited the next weekend, and on the weekends of Feb. 20 and 28.
He said during a visit on the weekend of March 7, the woman told him she wanted to have a baby.
“When she told me she wanted to have a baby, I told her it cost a lot of money and would be a lot of responsibility,” McNatt said.
McNatt said the woman wanted to go into the garage March 8 and he told her he hurt his back and she had to go home.
“She got mad,” he testified, adding his wife sought to calm her down.
He testified that on March 27, he picked the woman up at her home and she put her hand down his sweat pants.
“I said don’t do that, and she just stopped,” McNatt said.
McNatt said the woman called him daily from April 1 to 8, and twice on April 9, 2009.
He said during an April 10, 2009, visit, the woman said she wanted to sleep in the McNatts’ motor home. He said he went out at his wife’s request to prepare the bed for her. He said the woman made advances.
“I said we had to get back into the house,” McNatt said.
McNatt said the Muskogee County sheriff called him on April 20, 2009, and talked to him.
McNatt said his life has been very stressful since his arrest.
“It’s been bad on my health and I had a heart attack,” he said.
