A Tahlequah woman was injured in an accident at about 1:41 p.m. Sunday on Blackfox Hollow Road 20.1 miles north of Tahlequah in Cherokee County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that the 1985 Oldsmobile driven by Josiah John Vann, 25, of Oaks, departed the two-lane gravel road to the left and struck a tree. Vann was pinned for approximately 40 minutes before he was freed by the Oaks Fire Department. Vann was transported by helicopter to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark., with head, internal trunk, leg and arm injuries. A hospital spokeswoman said Monday that Vann was in condition.
Passenger Chantell Teehee, 18, of Tahlequah, was taken to W.W. Hastings Indian Hospital in Tahlequah with head and trunk external injuries. Teehee’s condition was not available Monday.
The OHP reported the cause of the accident was Vann driving under the influence of alcohol. The vehicle was equipped with seatbelts, but were not in use by either occupant.䑄
