A clerk at Sunshine Energy was robbed about 2:40 a.m. today by three black men, one of which carried a gun, police said.
When the three men entered the store at 1102 W. Shawnee Bypass, one walked to the counter asking for cigarettes, said Police Sgt. Lonnie Bemo.
Another went toward the back of the store, and another stood by the door, police said.
The one asking for the cigarettes got the money from the register and either hit the clerk in the head with his fist or the gun, police said.
“The clerk saw a black gun,” Bemo said.
The clerk saw the man who had gone to the back come out with cartons of cigarettes.
They are believed to have driven north on 11th Street in what the clerk described as a gray, older, boxy-type vehicle, police said.
