A two-vehicle crash Friday morning sent two people to the hospital and destroyed a utility pole.
Muskogee Police Officer Chansey McMillin said Michael Miller of Muskogee was westbound in a white Oldsmobile on Okmulgee Avenue when he collided with a blue Dodge Ram pickup about 10 a.m. at 24th Street.
The driver of the pickup was uninjured, but a passenger, Clyde Cornell of Muskogee, complained of chest injuries, McMillin said.
After the collision, the pickup smashed into an OG&E utility pole, which dislodged and fell onto Okmulgee Avenue.
The pickup came to rest against a traffic light.
Traffic was redirected from the intersection for about an hour as emergency crews and tow truck operators cleaned the street.
Miller, 33, and Cornell, 35, were taken to Muskogee Regional Medical Center, McMillin said.
Cornell was listed as treated and released, said MRMC spokeswoman Christina Deidesheimer.
An updated condition report on Miller was not available from MRMC, but McMillin said he was transported “with leg injuries.”
“Miller was cited for failure to yield,” McMillin said.
McMillin said Cornell’s wife, who was driving the pickup, was uninjured.
All three were wearing seat belts, McMillin said. Airbags deployed in the Oldsmobile, but not in the pickup.
