A Muskogee man was critically injured Monday morning in a crash in Noble County, according to a Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.
Alberto Nunez, 36, was in critical condition when he was taken to Ponca City Memorial Hospital and transferred to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. The report states Nunez suffered “arm, head, leg, trunk internal and trunk external injuries.”
Nunez was driving a 2012 Chevrolet pickup southbound on U.S. 177 at about 5:51 a.m. when he went left of center and struck a 1999 Kenworth driven by Thomas Anthony Waites, 58, of Mannford.
Waites was treated and released from Ponca City Memorial Hospital.
The trooper’s report states Nunez was pinned inside his vehicle for 40 minutes before being freed.
Seat belts were in use by both drivers. Airbags deployed in Nunez’s vehicle, but were not equipped in Waites’ vehicle.
