A Haskell man has been charged with attempting to strangle his girlfriend and her son, according to court records.
Charles Isaac Burris, 41, was charged with two counts of felony assault and battery by strangulation Tuesday in Muskogee County District Court.
Burris is accused of placing his hands around his girlfriend’s neck on Sunday, choking her, striking her and kicking her in the face, according to the records.
He also is accused of choking her son in the same manner.
Burris is held at the Muskogee County/City Detention Facility on $20,000 bond. He returns to court at 10 a.m. Oct. 9 to set a date for a preliminary hearing.
A conviction of felony assault and battery by strangulation could carry up to three years imprisonment and/or a $3,000 fine for the first offense.
