A civil suit seeking foreclosure on the Severs Block Building was filed Thursday in Muskogee County District Court.
The suit was brought by Ricketts Construction Co. Inc., which did much of the renovation work on the historic building after it was gutted by fire in December 2006.
The Severs Block Building is at the southwest intersection of Broadway and South Main Street.
The Ricketts firm asks that several mortgages on the property be foreclosed and paid from the sale of the property.
There are several real estate mortgages on the property, according to the suit:
• Armstrong Bank for $84,926, filed on Sept. 29, 2005.
• Armstrong Bank for $900,121.50, filed on May 14, 2007.
• National Trust for Historic Preservation in the United States for $450,000, filed Nov. 29, 2007.
The Ricketts firm filed a materialman’s lien for $10,831.57 against the property on Feb. 5, 2009.
The Ricketts firm asks that if the property is sold through the foreclosure, the proceeds from the sale go first to costs, second to the first mortgage holder, third to satisfy the materialman’s lien and then that any money remaining be paid to the court to be distributed by further court order.
