Offender sentenced for failing to register

A Muskogee man was sentenced to 18 months in prison for failing to register as a sex offender, according to a media release.

Phillip Ballard, 53, also was sentenced to five years supervised release, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

Ballard was indicted in June 2012 and pleaded guilty in July 2012.

Ballard was convicted in Texas of indecency to a child younger than 17.
