Muskogee police are seeking information after a man in a clown mask allegedly robbed a gas station.
Muskogee Police Department Lt. Bobby Lee said a masked man walked into the Pop-N-Go gas station at 609 S. Junction St. about 7 p.m. Wednesday and left with a cash register drawer full of money.
Lee said investigators spent much of Thursday collecting evidence and reviewing surveillance videos.
“We’ve been following up on some leads,” Lee said. “Some pretty good leads.”
Lee said the clerk described the suspect as a black male, about 5-foot-7, 140-150 pounds. The man was wearing a gold hooded sweatshirt with a black shirt over it, and had a “Halloween-type clown mask” on his head, Lee said.
Dispatch logs refer to the suspect as a “young black male” in his late teens or early 20s.
Lee described the weapon involved as a “black handgun.”
Emergency dispatch logs state the alleged suspect was last seen running westbound on Fremont Avenue, and the cash register drawer — as well as some of the missing money — was found less than two blocks away in the 2000 block of Fremont Avenue, Lee said.
Investigators weren’t sure exactly how much money was missing.
“It’s possible some other subjects were involved as well,” Lee said. “We’re reviewing video still before we make that determination.”
