Haskell town councilors voted in a special meeting Monday to accept a proposal from Boynton to pay out $25,877.15 owed for water Boynton buys and sells to its citizens.
Boynton has paid Haskell an $8,000 cashier’s check and agreed to pay the remaining owed, $17,887.15, at $1,490 a month for the next 12 months, plus the current bill each month, said Haskell Mayor Shannon Pardue.
Boynton’s May check for more than $10,000 was returned because of insufficient funds. The bill Haskell sent to Boynton on June 1 also is for more than $10,000.
Pardue and the vice mayor recommend Haskell councilors work with Boynton.
Pardue told Boynton Mayor Marie Wilson in front of her councilors and Haskell’s that if the agreement was not honored, Haskell would cut off Boynton’s water.
