Tahlequah City Hospital recently implemented a scholarship program designed to encourage students to choose a career in the medical field.
Nursing is the highest-paying occupation with the most vacancies, according to an Oklahoma Employment Security Commission survey.
The TCH scholarship is offered to high school seniors attending Hulbert, Keys, Tahlequah, Sequoyah and Fort Gibson high schools. Scholarships are granted in the amount of $2,500 for an Associate’s Degree in Nursing program and $5,000 for a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing program.
TCH awarded its first two scholarships to Keys senior Candice Haun and Tahlequah senior Jessica Nichole “Nikki” Pait.
Seniors may obtain applications from their high school counselors during school sessions. Graduates may call 453-2170.
