Four Checotah seniors were honored as Oklahoma Academic Scholars on Monday.
They are Megan Hurst, Justin Roberts, Jay Jennings and Ryan Lane.
They were among 2,358 students from across Oklahoma who met the Oklahoma Academic Scholar criteria, a record number since the program first began in 1991.
Oklahoma Academic Scholars have their accomplishment noted on their official high school transcripts. The requirements for the distinction are:
• Minimum (non weighted) grade point average of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale or be in the top 10 percent of their class;
• Expectation of completion of the curricular requirements for a high school diploma in the spring of 2009; and
• Achieving either a minimum composite score of 27 on the ACT college-entrance exam or a combined verbal and mathematics score of 1,220 on the SAT I.
