Tahlequah man killed on highway

OKMULGEE (AP) — A Tahlequah man was struck and killed as he attempted to flag down a motorist on Oklahoma 16 northeast of Okmulgee.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 24-year-old Clayton Marshall was thrown about 75 feet after the crash at 11:30 p.m. Monday. He was taken to a Tulsa hospital, where he died early Tuesday.

The patrol says Marshall was standing in the middle of the highway attempting to flag down a motorist when he was hit by an eastbound pickup truck. The driver of the truck says he tried to swerve to avoid Marshall, but Marshall jumped in front of the truck.
