Wagoner police released a description of a man they said took narcotics at gunpoint from a downtown drug store Tuesday.
The armed robber was dressed in a shirt and pajama bottoms, said Wagoner Police Detective Paulette Caskey.
The suspect is described as:
• A white male, from 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall.
• Stocky, and estimated to weigh from 195 to 200 pounds.
• 38 to 40 years old.
His hair color wasn’t seen, because he wore a stocking that covered his hair, but not his face, she said.
“The girls at the drug store didn’t know him,” Caskey said.
Wagoner Police and Wagoner County Deputies set up a perimeter around the area of the Owl Drug Store located at 115 S. Main St. That was done immediately after the armed robbery that occurred a little after 9 a.m., said Wagoner Police Chief Terry Hornbuckle.
Wagoner Police and the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office deputies looked most of the day for the suspect. No injuries were sustained during the armed robbery.
Narcotics were taken. How many and what type won’t be known until an inventory list being made Tuesday is delivered to police Wednesday, Caskey said.
Hornbuckle said by early afternoon they knew basically that “some guy got some drugs and ran. We haven’t found him.”
Some Wagoner residents believe a 911 caller from a convenience store that reported an alleged crime going on across town at another convenience store might be the armed robbery suspect, Caskey confirmed.
“We’ve heard rumors — but don’t think there is any connection or that the 911 caller is the suspect,” she said.
“Basically — we have nothing,” she said after law enforcement teams called off the perimeter search about 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Officers on the evening shifts planned to keep a lookout for the suspect, she said.
