Terry Seay was killed on the streets of Tahlequah late Tuesday night and another Tahlequah man is in custody in his death, officials said Wednesday.
Bobby D. Huckaby, 54, was arrested on a first-degree murder complaint. He is an acquaintance of Seay, said Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Special Agent Vicky Lyons.
“Huckaby was arrested after providing a statement to us. We have obtained what we believe to be the murder weapon,” Lyons said.
Seay, 50, was found by a Tahlequah resident about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on Chickasaw Street, the OSBI said.
Lyons and OSBI spokeswoman Jessica Brown declined to give the manner of Seay’s death, saying only that there was trauma to his body.
Officials said they believe they know the manner of Seay’s death, but want to wait for an autopsy report from the state medical examiner’s office.
Seay lived about five or six blocks from where his body was found, Lyons said.
There were no indications of drug use in connection with the homicide, but there were indications of alcohol use, Lyons said.
An employee of the Cherokee County Detention Facility said Huckaby is being held without bond.
