Northeastern State University announced Jeff Konya as the school’s fifth athletic director on Monday, replacing Eddy Griffin. Griffin retired in October 2008 to become executive vice president and chief operation officer of the Jim Thorpe Association and Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame.
Introduced at a press conference at NASA’s Tahlequah and Broken Arrow campuses, Konya comes to his new job after working as Senior Associate Athletics Director at Southern Methodist University. He’s also worked in athletic departments at University of Memphis, Texas-San Antonio, Bucknell and South Dakota.
