The family of a woman reported missing Aug. 4 is offering a $500 reward for information as to her whereabouts, Muskogee County Deputy Jeff Smith said.
The night Brandee Lester, 39, disappeared, she asked her boyfriend to let her out of the car while they were traveling on South 285th Avenue East, northeast of Haskell, the boyfriend told authorities at the time.
Smith said the investigation remains open and that a “person of interest” has been identified but is believed to have left the area. He refused to identify that person.
The boyfriend told investigators he dropped her off and drove about a mile down the road before he turned around to get her. He told Smith that Lester was nowhere to be found when he returned for her.
Tracking dogs were dispatched to the scene and air surveillance teams launched on Aug. 5. No signs of Lester were found, Smith said.
An Oklahoma City-area woman, Lester had completed a stay in a drug rehabilitation center before moving to the Haskell area, Smith said. Officials were told she might have had narcotics the night she disappeared.
Anyone with information about her disappearance is being asked to call Smith at the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office.
