Wagoner man gets 20 years in prison

A Wagoner man was sentenced Monday to 240 months in prison for sexual exploitation of a minor, said U.S. Attorney Sheldon J. Sperling.

Owen Lee West, 78, of Wagoner County also was sentenced to 60 months of supervised release after serving his time in prison for sexual exploitation of a minor child.

“Charges arose from an investigation by the Wagoner County Child Welfare workers, investigators from District #27 District Attorney’s Office and special agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation,” Sperling said.

Between April 30, 2003 and Feb. 7, 2008, West used a digital camera and computer to produce digital photographs of a child under the age of 12. The photographs depicted West sexually molesting the child and the child in sexually explicit poses displaying her genital area. A total of 180 photos depicting children engaged in sexually explicit conduct were seized from West’s computer by forensic examiners, Sperling said. West was indicted in June 2008.

West remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshal Service.
