Muskogee Regional Medical Center announces it has been selected as a quality partner in a new three-year Medicare program that aims to improve the quality of health care services, according to a media release.
MRMC will join the Oklahoma Foundation for Medical Quality (OFMQ) in a partnership to improve prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers (or bed sores), reduce the spread of MRSA infections and improve care for surgical patients.
As a quality partner with OFMQ, MRMC will receive Medicare-funded training and education on clinical techniques and best-practices that focus on improving measures of health care quality, and the hospital sets improvement goals it will achieve.
“We are glad to be a part of this important initiative to make health care better in Muskogee,” said Steve Mahan, MRMC chief executive officer in the media release. “We look forward to working with OFMQ to increase our knowledge and add new methods to what we are already doing to help our patients get positive health outcomes and quality of life.”
MRMC will involve other health care agencies in the Muskogee community such as nursing homes, home health and hospice organizations.
The Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) Program is a nationwide program through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. OFMQ, the QIO for Oklahoma, provides services to nursing homes as well as hospitals, physicians and other health organizations throughout the state.
